This policy explains what CyberCrunch collects about the people who visit this site, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Inter Media Digital Marketing L.L.C, the company that operates CyberCrunch, and "you" means anyone who visits or uses the site. We are the controller of the personal data described below.
Scope
CyberCrunch publishes independent reviews and news about security and privacy software. This policy covers the personal data we handle as the operator of this website: data about visitors who read our pages, people who subscribe to our newsletter or contact us, and representatives of the companies and partners we deal with commercially. It does not cover what a third party does with your data once you leave this site — including the providers whose products we review.
Terms used in this policy
Applicable privacy law means the data-protection rules that apply to you where you live, including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended.
Personal data means information that identifies you or could reasonably be linked to you, such as your email address or your IP address.
Reader means anyone who visits or uses this website. Business contact means someone we deal with in their professional capacity, such as an employee of an advertiser, affiliate network or software vendor.
What we collect, why, and what we do with it
Reading a page. When you open a page, our server and our first-party analytics record the page you requested, the page that referred you and the technical details every browser sends with a request — your IP address, your user-agent string, and approximate location derived from that address. We use this to count traffic, see which reviews are read and which need updating, and detect abuse. We do not use it to build an advertising profile of you and we do not sell it.
Subscribing to the newsletter. If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us so we can send you that newsletter. It is used for nothing else. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes you from the list.
Contacting us. If you write to us — a correction, a question, a complaint — we keep your message and the address you sent it from so that we can reply and, where relevant, act on it.
Business contacts. Where we work with an advertiser, affiliate network or vendor, we keep ordinary business-contact details for the people involved: name, work email, employer and the correspondence itself. We rely on our legitimate interest in managing those commercial relationships.
Social platforms. If you interact with us on a social network, that platform decides what data it collects and shares with us; we see only what its own settings expose.
The connection-check tool
Some of our pages offer a check that shows you your own public IP address, your approximate location and the name of your internet provider, to illustrate what any website can already see. That lookup runs in your browser against a third-party IP-information service, and the result is displayed only to you. We do not receive it and we do not store it.
Cookies, storage and analytics
We use browser storage for small conveniences: remembering that you closed a banner or a popup so that it is not shown to you again. Our analytics are first-party — a request to our own server, not a third-party advertising tag. Where a consent banner applies in your region, non-essential storage is only used after you accept it. How we protect and how long we keep it
The site is served over HTTPS and hosted on managed cloud infrastructure with access limited to the people who run it. Traffic data is kept in aggregate for as long as it is useful for editorial planning. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to deal with the matter it concerns, and longer only where a law or a live dispute requires it.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers who make this site work — hosting, content delivery, email delivery, analytics — each acting on our instructions; with professional advisers where necessary; where a law, a court or a regulator compels us; and, if the business or this website were ever transferred to another owner, with that owner as part of the transfer. Where you have asked us to do something that requires sharing, we act on that request.
Where your data goes
This site runs on cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States, and the people who operate it may access it from outside your country. Where personal data moves out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on the transfer mechanisms permitted by applicable privacy law, including standard contractual clauses with our providers.
Your rights, and how to use them
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to give you a copy in a portable form, to restrict or object to a particular use, and to withdraw a consent you previously gave. Under California law you may also ask us to disclose the categories of personal information we collected about you, to delete it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of it — we do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of. Exercising any of these rights is free and will not cause us to treat you differently.
Write to us to make a request; we will verify it and answer within the time your law allows. If you are unhappy with our answer, you are entitled to complain to your data-protection authority.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, tell us and we will delete it.

Following a link from this site — including an affiliate link — takes you to a business we do not control. What it collects, and how it treats you, is governed by its own policy, not ours. Read it before you sign up for anything.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page. What you are reading is the current version.
